This is one of the crown jewels of dowtown Fort Worth and has become of the most recognized grand facades. Outside the building graces such beautiful 48 foot angels were sculpted by Marton Varo from Texas limestone. I have seen these beautiful sculptures many times in a photographs, which I can relate to as being a favorite to photograph. They are stunning and do the city proud.

These angels are part of the spectacular "The Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass Performance Hall" that seat 2,056 in a multipurpose center, which is designed by David M.Schwarz/Architectural Services, Inc. with acoustics by Jaffee, Holden, Acoustics, Inc., of the classic European opera house form. The beautiful 80-foot diameter great dome, artfully painted by Scott and Stuart Gentling, tops the Founders Concert Theater.

Our first opportunity to experience a performance at BASS HALL was to see the semi-staged version of SHOW BOAT for our anniversary. Since then, we've enjoyed many classic concerts presented by the Fort Worth Symphony here.

Although the building appears to be much older, it opened for its first event in May of 1998. The two immense 48 foot tall angels decorating the exterior were sculpted in limestone by Marton Varo. I think they are absolutely gorgeous!

'Diana', a gilded bronze statue by Augustes Saint Gaudeas (1928) beautifies the lobby (pics 2- #3.) She was a gift of Amon G. Carter Foundation in memory of Bayard H. Friedman (1926-l998).

Bass hall is designed in the manner of the classic European opera houses with over 2,000 seats. A great dome, which is 80 feet in diameter, crowns the interior of the theatre. It features billowy blue clouds surrounded by a ring of feathers (pic #4)painted by Scott and Stuart Gentling.

A tiny gift shop is located in the lower level (pic #5). Bass Hall sits within Ft. Worth's cultural district, which is the third largest in the nation.

FYI: This attractive performance hall is named in honor of Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass.

Bass Hall attracts performers from around the globe.
So if you think of cows when you think of Fort Worth...think of classy cows.
Modeled after Europe's great concert halls and New York's Carnegie Hall, Bass Hall is the crown jewel of downtown Fort Worth's renaissance. Open since 1998, it is named for Nancy Lee and Perry R. Bass, the billionaires who deserve much of the credit for downtown's renovation. Besides its superb acoustics, Bass Hall has extraordinary architecture. Two huge limestone angels loom high above the street, holding golden trumpets.

We went there to see a performance for Khalil's birthday. It was a great experience.

Don't get the idea that culture in Fort Worth is all of the country and western variety - it has a rich arts scene as evidenced by the existence of one of the country's finer performing arts center - the Bass Performance Hall, home to symphonic, operatic, and ballet performances.

Bass Hall - Fort Worth, TX

You can't really say you have experienced Fort Worth until you have visited Bass Hall. The exterior, with its enormous angels is breathtaking, and the splendor continues inside.

During my visit we attended a free event sponsored by the Star-Telegram called Great Women Writers of Fort Worth. It was a very enjoyable interview, Q&A and book-signing session featuring Liz Smith, Sandra Brown, and Sally Jenkins. I gather that they put on these types of events quite often.

I highly encourage you to find any excuse you can to attend some sort of performance at Bass Performance Hall.
