In most parts of the country the far left lane is for passing. Not so here! Some people seem to think if they are not going to exit for the next hundred miles they can drive in the far left lane at 40 miles an hour. If you are from the North, you probably drive going the speed limit. Nope, not in Texas. You might want to use the middle lane. That is what it is for.
Stay away if it snow's or we have freezing rain
I lived up north for 14 years. People here in Texas cannot seem seem to get adapted to any kind of snow or freezing rain. If you value your vehicle, stay away. If your already here, find a place to hide! Traffic is terrible during this time.
This is not a good time to come unless
You dont mind dealing with unacclimated people who do not know how to drive on ice/snow. Granted, the roads are not bad *yet* but the "Im a Texan, I drive a truck" idiots who refuse to slow down are out in full force today. Plus, one of the major Fort Worth/Dallas highways is closed for major construction, creating another mess. Try back in about a month or so, then the gods of thunder will be here to show you a real sight.
Please don't try to fish the Koi with the poles you see around the Japanese Gardens... they are for drowning purposes only :-)))
When the Fort Worth Herd is trailing up through the Stockyards, make sure you stay on the curb otherwise you will have this lady to deal with. She will quickly direct you back to the pavement.
When an ice storm hits, its best to stay at home. I was always lucky and never had an accident thanks to my learning to drive in the middle of winter in Massachusetts!

Just like any place Fort Worth...
Just like any place Fort Worth has crime but if you stick with the nicer areas you will be alright. Watch out for Tornadoes this is part of Tornado Alley.
