Chisholm Trail Winery
Our friends, Bonnie and John, received the gift of a wine tour for four at Chisholm Trail Winery in Fredericksburg. We were honored to be included!
We drove nine miles outside of Fredericksburg, then traveled almost three more miles up a country road until reaching the winery. The affable owner, Pamela Williamson, conducted our tour. She instructed us on the ins and outs of wine producing. As we viewed her barrels and tanks, we were given small tastes of the contents.
Following our tour of the inner workings, we were treated to hors d'oeuvres and wine tasting----tidbits of cheese and crackers, marinated chicken pieces, a sliver of salmon, fruit chunks, a salsa concoction, and few slices of cream puff all accompanied by wine samples. Needless to say, we were not hungry for a full dinner that night.

The wines we tasted were:
2006 Belle Starr--a dry white, which was our favorite*!
Desperado--a dry red
Gold Reserve Cabernet Sauvignon--a semi-dry red
2006 GhostRider--a sweet red
2005 High Noon 11--a white
2001 Cabernet Sauvignon--a dessert wine, estate bottled
*We were informed that Belle Starr was going to be available mid-December/January at Retro Cowboy (Ft. Worth) and other stores, so we're going to be on the lookout for this delectable wine!
