This is a free park with sculpture done by Texas artists. There are both indoor and outdoor sculptures. We took our granddaughter here to see them one day. She enjoyed the more representational ones. There is a map of the outdoor sculpture locations, and each exhibit has the name and the name of the artist. The one named Staples (2nd picture) also had a note that you shouldn't sit on it. (I was tempted). Exterior collection open daily dawn to dusk; interior art open weekdays 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am till noon Leave a Comment

by Kodi01 Frisco RoughRiders Professional Baseball, the Texas Rangers’ Double-A Affiliate, announced today that they are the first team in sports history to bring the bullpen right into the seats behind first and third bases. “This is unheard of. We’ve never seen another ballpark with both bullpens built right in the stands with fans surrounding them on all four sides,” said President & General Manager Mike McCall. It is expected to become one of the premier baseball showcases in North America. The ballpark will become the anchor for Southwest Sports Groups' new multi-purpose complex located next to the Stonebriar shopping center. This project will include a new training center for the Dallas Stars hockey team, a convention center, residential housing, hotel and a brilliant commercial office park. Leave a Comment

Frisco Dr. Pepper Ballpark by ATXtraveler Located in the heart of Frisco is the Minor League Baseball team, the Frisco Rough Riders who play at Dr. Pepper Ballpark. This is one of the best minor league ballparks in the country to catch a game, and the entertainment lasts much longer than just the 9 innings in the game. Mascots races, diaper derbies, water balloon tosses, and two-stepping on the dugout are just a few of the sights you will see at the ballpark. Then there is the food... there are two separate all-you-care-to-eat options, one including beer and wine, and the other for just sodas and water. If you go completely all inclusive, there is an ice cream dessert bar as well as 4 separate "restaurants" to choose from in the stands. The easier option is the Teddy Club (named for Teddy Roosevelt, a Rough Rider) where you can just go up and get your hot dog or popcorn from one location, and return as many times as you like. This is a little lighter on the pocketbook at only 18 dollars a game. Ticket office info: 1. Get your tickets in advance RoughRiders home games tend to sell out – especially when it comes to the weekends. So plan in advance by checking out the schedule (click here) and purchasing your tickets online by clicking here. 2. Stop by the Dr Pepper Ballpark Ticket Office Located near the home plate entrance, on the Southwest corner of Dr Pepper Ballpark (facing IKEA), the Dr Pepper Ballpark Ticket Office is always ready to help you find the best seats for a RoughRiders home game. Dr Pepper Ballpark Ticket Office Hours of Operation: *Monday – Friday: 9am – 6pm (Game days - 9am until the 7th inning) *Saturday: 10am – 4pm (Game days - 10am until the 7th inning) *Sunday: Game days only – 3 hours before game time until the 7th inning *Posted hours of operation begin Saturday, March 22, 2008. In addition to the art and sculpture part of the Hall Office Park (which is apparently called H.O.P) there are grounds with ponds and flowers. According to their website they are enhancing the natural environment with a wandering landscape of lakes, bridges, and walking and running paths Our granddaughter got to see ducks, and even though it was only mid February, there were some flowers in bloom. Leave a Comment Directions: Hall Office Park is located on the western side of Dallas Parkway, just north of Highway 121, one of the fastest growing areas in the country. It is easily accessible via the Dallas TollwayWebsite: http://www.texassculpturegarden.org/

by keeweechic Craig Hall set aside $10 million for the art which is displayed in and around the buildings in the park. He also included pieces from his own private collection. The park set aside 4 acres for these sculptures and is the only office development in Texas which comes with a curator. Hours: Exterior collection open daily dawn to dusk; interior art open weekdays 8:00am to 6:00pm and Saturdays 9:00am till noon Leave a Comment Address: Gaylord Parkway near the Dallas Tollway.

by keeweechic Driving through Hall Office Park you will see the oddest sculptures dotting beautifully manicured lawns and landscaped gardens. It is almost like a small city. There are 37 which have produced by some of Texas’ most famous artists. Leave a Comment

by keeweechic During the time of the Civil War the Trail was rarely used but at the end of the war, Texas had a surplus of cattle and in 1866, pressure for trailing caused that an estimated 200,000 to 260,000 longhorns to be taken north. Many of the drovers were successful in their sales and some went for as much as $60 a head but others faced hostile farmers where outbreaks of Texas fever thought to be brought in by the cattle brought anger and barring of the drives in some places. Fines were implemented of up to $1,000 and herds were either impounded or killed. Leave a Comment Address: Central Park, Shawnee TrailDirections: Parkwood & Warren Pkwy

by keeweechic Even if you’re not a baseball fan, this complex it worth taking a look a. The new Dr Pepper/Seven Up Ballpark is the home of the Frisco RoughRiders baseball team. The park opened April 3rd, in time for the 2003 season at a cost $22 million. It actually reminded me more of an English cricket ground with the style of the buildings which is very different to the usual style of American ballparks. Really a very nice venue. This was my first time at a baseball game and what a nice venue to do it at. Leave a Comment Address: Parkwood Blvd.Directions: Near State Highway 121 and Dallas North Tollway

by keeweechic The downtown area isn’t great and it’s a reasonable distance from the major and more modern shopping areas like Stonebriar Mall and all the shopping areas across from it. A lot of the original buildings however have been restored. The shops you will find will sell antiques, clothing, quilting supplies and gifts. There are some good restaurants there also. The little gazebo and clock is located just up from the Frisco Chamber of Commerce in Main Street. Leave a Comment Address: Main Street, Frisco

by keeweechic The grounds undulate in parts and on the highest point there are two recreated watering holes which cascade down both sides of the hill. These are an attempt to recreate where the cattlemen would stop during the trail drives. Leave a Comment Address: Central Park, Shawnee TrailDirections: Parkwood & Warren Pkwy
