I worked here for about 5 years as a admission manager so who better to review then an old employee!
When they first opened all it was, was a convertible indoor water park. Then they expanded and now they have 3 sections, 1 indoor/outdoor and 2 outdoor. This park is open year around except for about 1 to 2 months in the winter (Jan/Feb) for maintenance. The park is usually really slow during the winter and the indoor section can get REALLY hot. I would suggest going during the slow time. There were many times we had to stop people from coming into the park because it was as its max during the peak time of the summer. At the end of a school year you will notice alot of schools coming during the week for there field trips so try your hardest to avoid those days all together! You can always call them and ask when a good time to come is and they will tell you the truth.
The tickets are pretty expensive and you can get discounts on the website, grocery stores, and even gas stations on the island.
You can bring in your own food and drinks but NO alcohol or Glass! They will be checking at the front gate and if you are caught with it they will ask you to throw it away! PLEASE DON'T WASTE THE ALCOHOL! lol There were many situations when I would find a crowd of people chugging there drinks in the parking lot! haha just don't get caught doing that because cops are everywhere.
The GM of the park is not a nice man and he will throw you out if you are caught doing anything against the rules! I do remember him throwing a kid out once for spitting off one of the slide! Im not saying they don't deserve it!
The park is alot of fun and you will love it if you go in a off season because then there will be no lines. It is a very clean park compared to other waterparks. It is in Galveston and the locals are not the best of people so the employees are of low class. They hire very young kids to help run the park but you would never know because it is always clean!
The park was shut down for about 6 months after ike and the entire indoor section had to be redone. All the slides were fine they just needed to be cleaned. The River was completely cleaned out and we had to gut all the seals and re do them. FUN FUN. They had there own employees do all the cleaning and I can say it was actually kinda fun.. Shh dont tell them I said that. We had to clean every little spot of that park and gut all the offices, admission booths, ALL the food locations, redo all the lockers, and replace EVERYTHING! Whew it was alot of work but super neat seeing Galveston come together to get things done! We had free for for about 2 months from MRE's, Salvation Army, FEMA, and all those other great non priofit orgs that come in crisis situations to help! I LOVE THEM!
Well back to the Water park, if you are thinking about visiting let me know and I will tell you more about the park!
