    Stewart Beach

Stewart Beach is the big family-oriented beach on the island. Most of the events and activities that go on here over the summer are geared towards families and children. There are sandcastle competitions, concerts, and beach volleyball & soccer tournaments held throughout the summer. There is also a miniature golf course here as well. Nearby there is also a huge McDonald's to eat at. A great place to take the kids, but it can get quite crowded on weekends and holidays. There is a fee for vehicles to enter, and they are not allowed on the beach.

Stewart Beach is a private family-oriented beach that is south/southeast from Broadway (I-45). Other than beach access it provides a dining area, huge playground, chair and umbrella rentals, souvenir shop, restrooms and sand volleyball areas. They also have many planned family activities.

    Volleyball on Saturdays!

This is by far the best beach in Galveston. On Saturdays and sometimes on Sundays they have Volleyball Tournaments (Those were the good days when I used to play in them) and they also have one of those HUGE blow up water slides. (Its so big it kind of intimidates me) The beach is always clean and you have a restaurant, store, showers, and bathrooms nearby. They do have lifegaurds and a man that rents chairs and umbrellas. This is the kinda of beach I take my 3 year old niece to on a random day. You do have to pay for parking which is around $7 a day but if you park somewhere nearby you can always just walk. They do not allow glass on the beach which is a good thing for us folks that walk around barefoot. In the store they sell food, drinks, and ICECREAM! Yum on a hot summer day its nice to have something collldd. This is also the command area for the Galveston Beach Patrol so in my eyes its the safest place in Galveston to Swim.... if there is one at all.
