One way in which a tourist may be easily picked out is in traffic on Seawall Blvd. Many tourists go very slow and stare at the ocean, weaving about in their lane and suddenly and unexpectedly braking. This is dangerous behavior that is quite irritating to other motorists and terrifying to pedestrians. Please, if you are going to drive on Seawall keep your eyes on the road and go a consistent speed. We all thank you in advance!
Galveston has it's share of quirky and unusual characters. A trip on the Seawall is always good for a laugh. Some locals to watch for: Disco guy - he wears eighties work-out wear, roller skates and carries a boom-box. He will stop and spontaneously break into an aerobics inspired dance number. He is great.
Marathon Man - Has been sighted all over the Island. Generally clad only in shorts and running shoes. This guy runs everywhere. At traffic lights you may be lucky enough to see him running along the line of cars giving each one the "You're #1" symbol before dashing off to spread his magic elsewhere.
