    Trekking to the Tracks

by VeronicaG Updated Jul 26, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Working your way from the parking area to the dinosaur tracks is fairly easy to a point, but not wheel chair accessible.

A paved walkway takes you a short distance, then you must scramble over large boulders and thread your way along a dirt path until reaching the riverbank.

Or you might feel courageous and scramble down a hillside path like our grandson is about to do in the picture.

Once at the riverbank, you'll need to climb up and over more rocks and fallen branches. Your efforts are definitely rewarded when you catch your first sight of these marvelous remnants from the prehistoric era!

    Watch out for CRYPTO!

by VeronicaG Updated Jul 26, 2008

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

'Crypto' is the shortened name for a bacteria that can be found in lakes, rivers and even swimming pools during the summer months. It is spread by human or animal fecal matter and is very contagious if one encounters it.

Normally lasting two weeks, the bacteria causes a fever, nausea, diarrhea, cramping and general achiness like the flu.

Letting the illness run its course is usually the direction, since it cannot be cured by antibiotics. Small children must guard again dehydration and it can be very dangerous for them. A doctor visit would be wise.

Sufferers are told NOT to swim for several days after the last symptom has disappeared, so as not to pass it around.

Remove any flags, balls or other objects from your vehicle exterior
Keep your doors closed at all times (you cannot get out anywhere on the way)

    Top Up the Gas Tank

by keeweechic Written Oct 21, 2003

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Before you go to Fossil Rim, make sure you top up your vehicle. The EZ Mart on Hwy 67 enroute to the Park seems to usually have the best price out of anyone along that stretch.
