Update: We were treated to a rousing evening of rockin' country gospel music recently at the Palace Theatre--hand clappin' and foot stompin' entertainment, to be sure! To find out more, see the website below.
Grapevine is a historic town with a picturesque main street, several good restaurants, great shopping and interesting events.
The Grapevine Opry adds a nostalgic feel to the town. It was originally called the Palace Theatre, which was built in 1940 by a local entrepreneur, but fell into disrepair in the l960's. The former movie theatre was renovated in 1975 and rechristened The Grapevine Opry.
The Grapevine Heritage Foundation purchased the building in 1991 and directed a massive 5 million dollar refurbishing in 2000. It now operates as a venue for country and gospel music, as well as, other musical and theatrical events.
The Opry provides an assortment of popular programs:
The Country Music Showcase is presented every Saturday evening at 7:30 pm.
Gospel Country is scheduled for the fourth Friday of each month, beginning at 7:30 p.m. (picture #2).
Themed events such as Waltz Across Texas, Country Christmas, Sentimental Journey, Fabulous 50's Jukebox, God and Country, Western Swing and Great American Cowboy are held throughout the year.
