This is a sprawling complex that goes around in a circular manner for about one mile. It seems rather easy to get from place to place inside, with a central focal point for check in. Still, be prepared for some walking and time spent to get to your gates.

I had prebooked my seat 4G i think it was, by the window , i foolishly changed it to 10 D which was on the second cabin and also slightly less comfortable. The food and service were superb.
the lesson learned is sit on a two seat arrangement rather than a three seat arrangement, which many of the european airlines seem to have.
arrived on time and within minutes i was out of the immigration and customs as i went through the Global Entry.

Going to Houston I flew Frontier Airlines. I was very pessimistic at first because it was so cheap, I thought I would have tight seats, no TV ect... But I was wrong! It was a very nice experience and that's coming from someone that had to deal with the airport at 5am! When I walked on board I was pleasantly surprised when I saw small TV's for every flier on the back of the seats. They also had a very comfortable head rest attached to every chair. you could fold up the sides making it easier to sleep without getting a neck cramp.
The flight was very quite and they make it as dark as possible that early so people can sleep. I actually slept pretty well!
Baggage claim was also very fast. Usually it takes FOREVER, but by the time I got across the airport my luggage was out. I was very pleased! :)
And last but certainly not least, they have cute animals on the back of each wing of every plane I flew the fox, I just thinks its really cute :) I would fly with them again!

Going From Houston to Texas I flew U.S. Airways. I was actually optimistic going in to this flight, thinking they are sometimes pricey so must have a good airplane. I was WRONG it was the worst flight I've ever been on! It was a very small plane with two seats on either side. Like 50% of the plane I was in the isle, and lets just say the man next to me was not small. This was a 6am flight which mean I was trying to sleep, anyone and everyone that needed to get up to use the restroom, stretch their legs or flight attendant serving drinks, they would hit me every time they walked by and it would waken me from my awkward sleep position.
Once the flight landed 3 LONG hours later it was time to switch planes. But the time I landed was the time I was suppose to board my next flight! And the flight attendant had put more than half of the planes bags underneath since the cargo was so small and we all had to wait 20 min to get our carry on and RUN to the next terminal. It was all the way on the other side of the airport! I barely made my flight.
U.S. Airways is by far the worst airlines I've ever traveled with.

Houston has 2 airports, Bush Intercontinental (IAH), and Hobby (HOU). Bush Intercontinental is by far the bigger of the 2, and the one that serves international flights. But Hobby is a lot closer to the center of town, and being smaller, is much less congested. When flying in or out of Houston, in most cases Hobby is the much easier and time saving option between the two. Bush is located about 30-45 minutes north of downtown (possibly more depending on traffic), yet Hobby is just 10-15 minutes southeast of downtown (again, possbly longer in traffic). So unless you are heading to or from somewhere on the northside of town or northern outlying areas, flying in or out of Hobby can be a lot less of a headache. If you are coming in on or have an international flight, than this tip does not apply. Hobby is actually a hub of Southwest Airlines, with many flights in and out of Houston from most major cities in the U.S. everyday. So if you have a choice of airports in Houston, for most cases, choose Hobby.

Houston is the home to Continental Airlines, which is one of the largest carriers serving Houston Intercontinental Airport. IAH is located 20 miles north of downtown Houston, so make sure to take that into consideration when considering which flight to take in the morning. It is also a very large airport, so make sure you allow yourself plenty of time.
There are several carriers that service Houston, most of which are domestic.
The international carriers are Air France, British Airways, Cayman Airlines, China Airlines, Lufthansa, KLM, and AeroMexico.

With a city as large as Houston, two airports become a necessity. In 1969, the IAH airport was opened to alleviate the pressure of Hobby Airport.
Hobby services 55 cities directly now, and is a major hub for Southwest Airlines, although Southwest does not actually run "hubs".

This isn't a tip to rate upon, just to say that I have been to Houston's major airport and found it to be quite a relaxed atmosphere, considering the size it serves daily.
As a young, lone female traveler I felt safe and the people were fantastically friendly. Finding your way around the airport is very convienent and easily accessible with plenty of helpful signs to guide you to your next plane or out of the terminal.
The lights of Houston as my plane departed at dusk almost made me cry! Houston is a beautiful city, especially from the sky. I hope I will be able to return to Houston to visit, as I'm sure it will be as beautiful up close, as it was far away.

We have been flying with a few airlines to the states, least favorite of ours are, KLM, Northwest and Martinair. More favorite are British Airways and United Airlines, But this time (May 2003) we flew for the first time with continental in a new Boeing 767-200. On board every seat had an entertainment center, with one control you could use satellite phone (still very expensive), listen to different radio channels, watch different movie and tv channels and play videogames (our first time we had that). Except for the satellite phone all where free.
Seating space was good, space in front and width of the chair also was good (economy).
A feature which we liked very much was the foldable and in height adjustable headrest all seats had so there was no need for the neckrest cushions. The provided cushions where more thicker and softer as we have had on any other airplane till now and also the blanket was one of the better ones.
There is no indivudal air control, but there was no need for that, temperature was comfortable and not to hot. Another good thing is that your allowed to keep the headphones which are given to you on a transatlantic flight.
It was also since a long time i didn't end up coughing and having red eyes after or during the flight...
But not all our experiences where that good with continental, i am planning to put my experience with voluntering my seats on my North America Page soon, those were less pleasant..
