This cozy nightspot across from the Galleria III boasts an upscale casual atmosphere ideal for conversation and people watching. Cool 20-something/ 30 something clubbers take a break from throbbing dance floors for a seat on one of Buddha's comfortable couches and chairs. Sultry candlelight illuminates the hip décor and trendy patrons sipping specialty cocktails. My absolute favorite place in Houston. Great place to avoid the hassle of downtown and midtown. Beautiful crowd, great music, wi fi, great staff. Drinks are slightly pricey, but well worth it.

New to Houston, but already well established in Austin, Alamo Drafthouse combines first run movies (& theme events), good eats and adult beverages, served at your seat.
You can download their menu from the website. I've been a couple of times and tried one of the pizzas and the Philly cheesesteak. Both were good. The only problem I've noticed is missing my mouth because it's dark and I'm trying to watch a movie. If I were designing this kind of place, I'd have the tables closer to the seats.
Oh, and no kids allowed.

Good people watching (and some cool cats) can be found driving down Westheimer, several miles east of the Galleria, in the 200 to 900 block. Park and walk yourself- there are lots of fun shops, plus a few tattoo parlors. Eat at Empire Cafe, casual gourmet food.
