    Houston International Jazz Festival

    by peaceness98 Written Aug 10, 2004

At Sam Houston Park, there's an annual Jazz festival held where you can walk around and listen to different Jazz performers. This is a popular event, and worth checking out. Timings are normally announced in advance, ask your concierge or any of the locals if it's on when you're in Houston

    Texas Rennaisance Festival

    Renaissance Festival north of Houston

The Texas Rennaisance Festival takes place on weekends every year from mid October to mid November.

Travel back in time on the festival grounds in a forested area in the small town of Plantersville, which is about 50 miles north of Houston.

This is the nation's "largest, most acclaimed renaissance theme park where the sights, sounds, tastes and beauty of the 16th Century come alive!" according to those running the festival. Many guests would certainly agree.

The festival offers plenty of food, beer, and merchandise ranging from clothes to art to swords. There is also plenty of entertainment, ranging from jousts to dancing to just plain people watching. The festival workers aren't the only ones dressed up; many visitors dress up in Renaissance or Medieval style clothing as well.

This is surely someting you won't want to miss if you're going to be in the area during the time the festival takes place.

They have royal jousts, comic shows, stores selling arts and crafts, Located in Plantersville, TX....it is about a 1.5 hour drive from Houston.

Just a 'short' drive north of...

    1.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Just a 'short' drive north of Houston brings you to The Woodlands, TX. This place is special because of the unique setup of the city. But, the most important thing about this city for a tourist is the Cynthia Mitchell Woods Pavillion. This place hosts MANY concerts with huge names appearing monthly. Also, the architecture of the building is super cool. There are seats under a white canopy roof with huge fans, like those wind-power generating ones you see. But, then there is this huge grassy hill which you can sit on. People bring blankets and have a great time laying out in the grass with their friends while listening to their favorite artists playing the tunes. It is a great venue to see your favorite band, so get on Ticketmaster and go!
