Another great one in the local chain of Goode Company restaurants, Goode Company BBQ serves up some of the city's best BBQ. There are 2 locations in Houston, but since I frequent the location on Kirby, as well as prefer it, this is the one I am writing in regards to. The restaurant has a very "Texas" feel inside, with a slew of old decorations in honor of the state's proud history. Lots of pictures and paintings of Texas' past adorn the walls, as well as such items as old Texas license plates, beer bottles, and of course, a huge stuffed deer's bust. There is very limited seating inside, but tables are outside as well on the larger patio. The food most definately fits right into place with the decor. True Texas BBQ is what you came for, and it is what you will get. BBQ chicken, brisket, sausage, ribs, and turkey are smoked to perfection, and then covered in a thick & delicious sauce that spices up and livens up the taste. You can taste the delicious mesquite flavor in every dish that is served up here. And for side items? Well lets just say that the cole slaw, potato salad, jambalaya, jalapeno corn bread, and baked beans are so good your mouth will be begging for more, even if your stomach is completely full! And if somehow you can spare just a little extra room in that belly of yours, some of the best pecan pie you have ever tasted is waiting for you. Good Luck! :)
Favorite Dish: The Turkey Sausage, and Austin Baked Beans! To die for!
OK, you will never get 2 Houstonians to agree on thier favorite BBQ place, I just choose Goode Co. off the top of my head. Great food, wonderful selection, jalepeno cheese bread to die for and all the cold beer you could want!
And next door they have the "Goode Company BBQ - Hall of Flame" with everything you need to start your own Texas tradition at home.
Here's their motto:
" You might give some serious consideration to thanking your lucky stars you're in Texas"
Favorite Dish: PECAN PIE!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! You have to try it to understand.
This place is not fancy, but it's normally 75% full. Open Daily from 11:00am-10:00pm
Favorite Dish: My favorite dish is again the chips and salsa (You have to pay for it, but it's cheap). I also like the mesquite grilled chicken sandwich. The mesquite grilled hot dogs are good and you can put whatever fixings you want on it (lettuce, tomatoes, salsa, pickles).
Goode Company Hamburgers & Taqueria
Some of the best food you'll ever have! Supper-casual atmosphere. Try the Goode Company BBQ nearby also.
Favorite Dish: Tex-Mex and burgers, and the best weekend brunch in town! Try the venison sausage!
Most out-of-towners look for a sampling of cowboy culture, so it's been said there's no place beeter to go than Goode Company Barbeque.
The small interior is decorated with mounted cow heads and historic photos; authentic country-Western music blares on the loudspeaker; and employees wear T-shirts emblazoned with 'You might give some serious thought to thanking your lucky stars that you're in Texas.'
The place is famous for sliced brisket on house-made jalapeno bread; the sliced turkey is a good choice for the health conscience. But save room for pecan pie. One warning: The serving line moves slowly, so be prepared for a wait unless you fo at an off hour.
Favorite Dish: Menu is in-expensive.
