You can't come to Texas and not have some B-B-Q!!! the best place to get it in Houston is Brown Sugar's B-B-Q. It's VERY affordable delicious.
It's a down home country enviroment. From the old fashion camping plates to the checkered tableclothes.

Favorite Dish: The Super Spud! This baked potato comes with sour cream, chives, butter, cheese, and a pile of chopped beef or turkey. They say everything is bigger in Texas, and in the case of The Super Spud it's true!

virtually any local Mexican restaurant: authentic Tex-Mex

    by John_P_LSU Updated Feb 5, 2004

    3.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Keep in mind, that the more a place resembles a "dive", the more likely the food is to be authentic. That is not to say a "nice" place will not have great food, but, well, you know....
