Reliant Park is the location of some of the main stadiums of Houston. The old one, built in 1965 and called the Astrodome (the round building on the right on the picture), was quite famous in its time as it was the first enclosed air-conditioned football and baseball stadium. Some even called it the 8th wonder of the world!! The other newer building on the left is Reliant Stadium, home to the Texans, the american football team of Houston, professionals from the NFL (National Football League).
These stadiums and surrounding other compounds (exhibit halls) are used for much more than american football matches. Numerous events and fairs take place on these grounds, including the huge rodeo of Houston every March.

Check out the new Reliant stadium, home of the Texans football team....amazing! The cost to build this monster was $449,000,000.00.
One of the most important architectural pieces since the downtown baseball park, Reliant Stadium is another key piece of Houston. But while Minute Maid park concentrated on turning a sports venue into an intimate experience, Reliant Stadium went the other way. It had no choice. This thing is big. 1,900,000 square feet. The playing field alone covers 97,000 square feet. The Superbowl was actually a great event. The new stadium (which we are all paying for) proved to be a worthy venue for such a world class party.
Comfortable walking shoes as parking near the stadium is as rare as an honest opinion on the president. Leave a Comment

This stadium is unreal! It has a retractable roof and can hold about 70,000 people. Aside from its beautiful layout and design, Reliant Stadium is juxtaposed with the Astrodome...literally. It dwarfs the Astrodome in shear height and volume.

Ok, ok, ok we all know the Houston Texans are not the BEST team in the NFL but we will get there one day. Houston has some die hard fans either way! Don't mess with Texas and their football!!
