Astros Field - Sports, Houston

If you are in Houston for more then one day, you MUST go to a baseballgame. It takes you a couple of hour, but everthing you need to know about Americans you learn there. At the beginning of the game the national anthem, after a couple of innings a workout !!, and during the whole game food and drinks of every kind available. The game is not really exciting when you do not know any of the players, but your game neighbours usually will tell you anything about each of them. Plus the tempo is low so you can have good, nice and long conversations with American men and women.

In 2002 the Astros bought back the naming rights to the field after the collapse of Enron. The field is home to the Astros baseball team. The first game played here was between the Astros and the New York Yankees. The field has a retractable room for indoor/outdoor playing.

There are so many things to do. DOn't forget the Astros, Rockets, Comets, Aero(minor league hockey), Rice university sports, and u of houston sports. Both of those are great in baseball and pretty fun to watch in the football and basketball.

Enron Field was opened in 2000 and is an immaculate baseball facility. Capacity is over 40,000 people and there is a retractable roof. The noise in the crowd was great when I visited and the fans seemed friendly. There are air conditioned portions of the facility (lounges etc.) which are heavenly on a hot day when the roof is open.

The year 2000 marks the opening of Enron Firld, new home of the Houston Astros. With 42,000 seats, a roof that retracts in 20 minutes, and a natural grass playing surface, this beautiful new venue is the center of attention on the east side of downtwon, near the George R. Brown Convention Center. Houston's other famous home teams - the Rockets, the Comets, the ThunderBears, the HotShots and the Aeros - thrill their fans with heart stopping games. Excitem,ane has alread begun to build for Houston's new NFL team, who will kick off their first season in a new stadium in 2002. Baseball in Houston is a great afternoon or evening out.
The Astros made it to the 2005 Championship but haven't faired so well this year.
