When we visited San Jacinto State Park, we saw that we could visit the Battleship Texas. There was a self-guided tour which includes the flying bridge, the engine room the restored sleeping quarters and medical facilities, engine room, guns, and anchors. But the price of admission ($12.00 each) we thought was too much, especially since Bob was in the Navy and has been on many Navy ships. So it wasn't going to be that enlightening for him. So we didn't go on board. I just took some photos from the outside.

This was a great find! We had originally planned to spend a couple of hours and ended up spending the better part of the day. Located just across from the San Jacinto National Park, the Battleship Texas allows you to take a self guided tour and explore the last of the Dreadnaughts. They have restored a large part of the ship and are continuing. You can explore much of the ship, even the engine room was open.. I must admit that I chickened out after I went down to the first Catwalk.. it was kinda creepy. If you can make it all the way down, Kudos to you. :)

This drednought served in both world wars. It is moored next to the San Jacinto monument east of the city.
