I thought that traffic in my area was bad....it is NOTHING compared to the traffic we saw in Houston. I guess what makes it bad is that there are tons of cars on the road all hours of the day. Even at 4 AM, I heard the cars racing by on the freeway from our hotel room. Just be careful and pay attention!
If you are in Houston visiting the Galleria, make sure that you pay for your parking prior to getting in your car and starting on your way. The exits to the parking area are in fact not operated by people, so you will have to go to the Security office and pay for your parking, then you have fifteen minutes to leave the lot!
Dont hit on married women in Houston. Especially right in front of their husbands. A great many of these husbands (and wives) are gun owners. Its one thing to admire the view and its flattering to a point. Dont put your hands on someones wife.
Sounds like common sense, right? Then why dont more men seem to have it? As my husband has said, "talking to the wrong woman will get you killed."
For goodness sake, dont look at my husband and try to introduce yourself just after you tried to mack on me. He's one of the quietly psychotic types.
Treasures may seem like another gentlemen's club from the outside. Typical strip club architecture with lots of lights. Once you pay $10 to enter one of the first things you will notice is the lack of ATMs--let that be the first warning.
Soon you will be accosted by one of many escorts. They might explain that because you are on the ground floor (general population) they are unable to go fully topless (they wear pasties) due to some new "regulation" in Houston. Funny how no other strip club has this ordinance. However, if you pony up $165 you can get a bottle of champagne and be escorted upstairs where they will go topless. Once upstairs the bargaining begins. Now, they will be willing to keep you company for the mere price of ~$400/hour. Conveniently they take your credit card and driver's license upon purchase of the champagne and the clock starts from there. They will also round up the time the escort spends with you. Note that whether they are just sitting there or dancing the meter is running. They've done this to two friends of mine and both racked up a bill of more than $1K (one was waaay more than that to the tune of a car). If you refuse to sign the bill you will be surrounded by bouncers until you do.
One thing you absolutely need to do is PAY CASH for dances. You can use your credit card to pay for admittance and drinks but close out the tab and check it each time. Also, I recommend paying for entry using your credit card and note the time on the bill. Last time we got there around 1:30 am and we got a bill stating that we got there before 12:30 am--this was the bill that ran until 2:30 am and included an hour-and-a-half worth of "dances" even though we were upstairs for less than 40 minutes.
Once you've been ripped off, feel free to go back downstairs and see the now topless dancers.
If you must go here, again, bring lots of cash, avoid using your credit card, and stay in general population. Let the others explain the $15,000 bill to their wives and companies.
You've been warned!
The suburbian forests and parks around Houston contain an inordinate number of deers. Bambies are cute, but they don't mix well with traffic. If you drive through a forested rural or semi-rural area, be on a lookout for them, especially at night. And don't let the fences lull you into thinking that your paths won't cross - deer can jump REAL high - you won't believe how high until you see them do it.
