Swamp Shack is one of my family favorite places to go. They usually have bands 7 days a week and on the weekends they have bands in the afternoon starting at 2 and another in the evening. You also have the choice to sit outside, inside, or even upstairs. The servers are great and I have never had bad service there. They have great crawfish and great oysters, and they are known to have alligator food like burgers, alligator nuggets, and ect. When you visit the bathrooms you will pass a fish tank with a bunch of alligators in it. It is a kid hot spot. The only thing this place could improve on would be location. You are settled right off 146 and close to the water but not close enough to see. But, during the summer on Friday nights Kemah has fireworks and this is a perfect spot to sit and watch and listen to music.
Favorite Dish: Crawfish and oysters of course. My favorite beer here is Andy Gator, you can get it on draft and its good!
Outriggers is a seafood and oyster bar on the water. This restaurant is locally known to park your boat at while your spending a day on the water. They have great drinks, good food, and most weekends they have live music on the lower lever. We usually eat here every Sunday after church to have our crawfish and oysters. Its a great local joint but can tend to get packed. They have great fish tacos!
Boat owners: If you are done with a day of fishing, Outriggers has a sink and clean up table on the dock for you to skin and clean your fish.
Favorite Dish: Oysters and crawfish of course and when those are not in season I prefer the fish/ Shrimp Tacos.
T-Bone Toms is probally one of the most famous local joints in Kemah. They have great music almost every night of the week. They also have great seafood and awesome crawfish! T-Bone toms has really up'ed its scaled the past couple of years and they now have a VERY large outdoor section with a palapa over head. They have tvs for the games and lots of seats for when the crowd gets heavy. The Atmosphere is beachy/ outdoorsy and on a sunny day you will feel like its summer everyday.
WOW is all I can say! I had Landry's for the second time in my life last night and it was pure amazingness! Yes it was super expensive but well worth it if you want some goooood seafood. I had this Mahi Mahi with Avocado and steamed veggies. Wow the sauce they add is wonderful. They give you bread before your food comes out and also a salad with some really good sauce on it. (If you dont like sauce make sure you ask them to take it off before hand) We also had some oysters, they were small but I was eating them with out sauce and a cracker so that means they were delicious! Landry's is a very nice restaurant with a great view of the water and some of the boardwalk. When you are done eating you can enjoy a nice walk along the boardwalk and play some games or ride some rides.
Favorite Dish: Cant say yet but as of now the Mahi Mahi with Avocado is pretty good.
The Aquarium restaurants are more like an amusement park these days than a restaurant. I remember eating here many years ago and it was nothing more than a few fish tanks and a great meal. However, now, it's got anything and everything you could imagine.
The Aquarium at Kemah has an upstairs area, outside area, bar, and gift shop. They have great drinks and even better seafood.
If you have kids I would definitely recommend eating here as the atmosphere allows for watching the fish swim while eating.
Keep in mind, though, that Shanna and I ate here one evening and asked to sit away from the little ones and had a great, more quiet time, which is also available here! :)
Special Occassions: You can be a marine biologist for a day! You can request and eat with a real marine biologist. Birthday parties are available! There are field trips available. And there is also a sting ray reef where you can pet the sting rays at various times in the day.
Favorite Dish: The mango daquari was good. I had the fried sampler which comes with oysters (not for me-asked for extra shrimp), fried shrimp, crab-stuffed shrimp, and a stuffed crab. Please know that I didn't eat ALL of that! I had plenty left over for the next day :)
Inside the Kemah Boardwalk you will see an array of food choices. The buildings are HUGE and when you get out there you start fumbling with which one you might choose. If you are in the mood for mexican food than Cadillac is going to be your place.
It is actually a part of the Landry's restaurant chain. They have multiple floors to eat on and even a choice to eat outdoors viewing some of the water. On weekend nights they will usually have live music as well, but it makes it hard to talk while seated outdoors.
Favorite Dish: I don't think we actually ate here. I think we just had some of the free chips and salsa while we had a view margaritas.
The aquarium is a great place to eat! The restaurant is built with several aquariums, and when you are inside, it feels as if you are underwater! Check it out!
