Kerrville Things to Do

  • Flora and Fauna

That's just a fancy word for flowers and plants. The Kerrville Chamber of Commerce brags about its great weather. That must be what's responsible for beautiful flowering shrubs such as this. Seen in mid to late March.

  • Cailloux City Center for the Performing...

This just blew me away! Here we are in a Texas' hill country town of 20,000 people and they have this performing arts center. Amazing. Furthermore, they have their own orchestra - the Hill Country Symphony, choir - the Hill Country Chorale, present chamber music concerts and live theatre. Further reading lead me to understand the town also is home...

Kerrville Restaurants

  • Great Place for Breakfast

My family and I stopped in Kerrville, TX on our way back to Sierra Vista from San Antonio. It was the first place we found a Cracker Barrel close to the highway. I love Cracker Barrels because of the country style meals they prepare; especially the breakfast. It was a cold morning and snow was falling. Having left our hotel without breakfast, I was...

Kerrville Transportation

  • by JohnFegan Written Oct 5, 2002

Car is the best method of getting around. I flew into Dallas/Fort Worth and drove down but you may consider flying from Dallas as it was very inexpensive and saved a lot of time and tiredness
Again get around by car, local transport is just not there as far as I could see.

Kerrville Shopping

  • Art Galleries...

This fine art gallery caught our attention with its size and variety of genre and styles represented. There were a number of objects in this store we would have loved to bring home with us, but our budget on this trip was shoestring. I wish I had the name for this shop; I've searched the web, including yellow pages, and can't come up with it. If...

  • Antiques...

We noticed several antique shops, and while we're not "antiquers," we could tell these were of a little higher quality than what you often find in small towns. This mall had one of the more colorful exteriors.

Kerrville Local Customs

  • by JohnFegan Written Oct 5, 2002

Tipping is as usually for the states around 15-20% If you are unsure tip the total of the tax on your bill.

Texans are very proud of their state. It is appreciated if you show the same respect and I have found they are more than happy to tell you the history etc.

Kerrville Warnings and Dangers

  • by pvtpilot Written Sep 14, 2003

IF you like the New York "in your face" attitude, visit ArrowHead Gun Shop and ask for the owner Jerry and he'll be sure to be RUDE to you. Not your typical Texas friendliness but don't let that turn you off, go to Wal Mart for ALL your HUNTING needs. They are friendly and the prices are not over inflated.

Kerrville Off The Beaten Path

  • by JohnFegan Written Oct 5, 2002

    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Excuse the vagueness of the locations but it is well worth travell around to the smaller towns around Kerrville...there you will find gift and goodies that cant be found in kerrville itself. Also again not remembering the exact location..have a hunt for the farm which is a few miles outside kerrville which has miniatures built of things like stonehenge.

Visit the Cowboy museum and take time to walk at least part of the Guadalope river valley. The people were incredibly friendly and willing to help you.
