The Ft.Hood outdoor Museum is a must see. There is an incredible amount of tanks, planes, helicoptors, and other Army transport vehicles on show, all very interesting, and really worth coming to see.

    Large Military Population

    by Sweetberry1 Updated Apr 3, 2004

Fort Hood is the largest employer in the State of Texas. Approximately 45,000 soldiers are assigned to Fort Hood. The large concentration of military dependents strongly influences the area's business climate as well as the approximately 1,000 soldiers who separate from the service each month. With advanced high-tech training, these soldiers provide an experienced and well disciplined labor pool.

    Stillhouse cliffs

    by scott_txguy Written May 6, 2003

There is a local custom among high school kids (and GI's) to drive out to lake stillhouse dam and jump off the cliffs nearby. There are some areas out there you can no longer drive your car to the edge of the cliff (they have fenced it off) but you can walk there. However, depending on the water level there may be rocks below.

If you take highway 190 east of town, past nolanville, and take the turnoff for the dam, eventually you will come to an area where the hill has ben cut out to a large flat plain with a floodgage.
