    Well, if you were ever stuck for accommodation, while visiting Killeen, you could easily make yourself right at home in one of these caves.. There was some evidence that someone had done just that.. as there was a fireplace, and also a grill to cook your fish on.. after you caught them in the lake. ;-)

    Central Texas State Fair, held in Belton, around the Labor Day weekend each year.
    This fair has been a Killeen-Belton annual event since 1987. The fair features rides, games, and a large variety of food.
    Livestock shows and competitions, creative arts shows and competitions, military marching units from Fort Hood in nearby Killeen, concerts and shows, and professional bull riding.
    If you are visiting during this time, you really should attend.. I had a fantastic time here.

    Daily Fairground Admission....

    Adults - $2.00,
    Children 12 & under - $1.00
    Monday, September 6 - Military Appreciation Day...
    All Military admitted FREE with valid Military ID

    Professional Bull Riding...

    Tickets September 3 & 4...
    Reserved Adults $12.00, and $10.00
    Reserved Kids $10.00 and $8.00
    General Admission...
    Adults $8.00, Kids $6.00
    Tickets available at the Expo Box Office and online at Texas Box Office.

    'Starbucks' has just opened it's doors in Killeen.. so if you need a bit of a lift while taking in the the sites, this might be just the place to get it.
    Or if you just want to meet and interact with the locals.. this could be the ideal place.

    The Bell County Museum runs various exhibitions throughout the year.. featuring rare photographs, artifacts, costumes, and other fields of interest.
    This is a great place to visit if your interest lies in history, historical topics and different cultures.

    Killeen's Hot Summer Nights Concert Series is an annual event, ( early August ), sponsored by the Killeen Parks and Recreation Department and Time Warner Cable.

    Concerts begin at 8 p.m. and are free.

    The Mayborn Planetarium and Space Theater opened in 2003.. since then, over 35 thousand visitors have attended programs including Public Planetarium Shows, Laser Light Shows, Large Format Films, and K-12 School Programs.
    The Planetarium Lobby features a glass-enclosed projection booth, allowing visitors to observe some of the inner workings of the special effects control systems.

    The Killeen Library is the place to visit if you are seeking information about the history of the Killeen district.
    The staff will be happy to provide assistance in locating information about a specific subject. The Library also provides computers with word processing, and internet.
    There is a one-hour time limit, and you can sign up at the reference desk, if all terminals are full.
    I found them to be very helpful

    Most people visiting Killeen would probably not find this place unless they were told about it by the locals.
    It is a beautiful area, in the woods, with natural walkways right through. Some of the walkways have been manmade, but done in a way to enhance what was already there.
    As you go deeper into this wooded area, you come to a beautiful little waterfall.
    There were a few 'Beware of Snakes' signs at the beginning of this trail, but we never saw any.
