Fun things to do in Killeen

Killeen's Hot Summer Nights Concert Series is an annual event, ( early August ), sponsored by the Killeen Parks and Recreation Department and Time Warner Cable.

The Killeen Library is the place to visit if you are seeking information about the history of the Killeen district.
The staff will be happy to provide assistance in locating information about a specific subject. The Library also provides computers with word processing, and internet.
There is a one-hour time limit, and you can sign up at the reference desk, if all terminals are full.

The Killeen Plaza Hotel and Convention Center is where you can celebrate that special occasion, that calls for lovely facilities for your function.
These include ..Conventions, Balls, Reunions, Banquets, or Receptions.

Nature in Lights Includes more than 5 1/2 miles of displays. Stop at Santa’s Village for snacks, arts & crafts vendors, and pictures with Santa.
The Christmas Light display was an awesome sight. The many exibits were spectacular, and beautifully arranged around the Lake. This was a wonderful experience for me.. and I was very fortunate to be able to see this in late November, just before my return to Australia.

Most people visiting Killeen would probably not find this place unless they were told about it by the locals.
It is a beautiful area, in the woods, with natural walkways right through. Some of the walkways have been manmade, but done in a way to enhance what was already there.
As you go deeper into this wooded area, you come to a beautiful little waterfall.
There were a few 'Beware of Snakes' signs at the beginning of this trail, but we never saw any.

Another display that was definitely worth taking a photo of... though I must say that my camera did not do it justice. I should have had my digital camera at that time, for some really good shots.

This is a great place to take the kids to beat the texas heat or rain. The kids run themselves ragged and leave exahusted everytime we go. The place has a bunch of bouncers, slide and an obstacle course. It is for kids 10 and under so the older one do have to sit this trip out.

There are several churches in the Killeen area, of many different denominations.. for those who like to visit. This one is located in Harker Heights.
