Since the opening of the Killeen/Fort Hood Regional Airport.. the Killeen Municipal Airport, is no longer the regions main airport. This airport is now being used for flight training, and privately owned aircraft.

By airplane into Austin, then by car to Killeen. Although I could have gone all the way into Killeen by plane.
This is now a better option, since the opening of the new airport.
Definitely need a car to get around Killeen, and to travel to other cities. There are other modes of transport, but a car would be most convenient.

If travelling from Dallas, take I-35E South to Waco, then take the exit to
I-35 South until US-190 West exit towards Killeen/Ft Hood. Take the I-190
Business through to Central Texas Expressway into downtown Killeen.

The City of Killeen will be moving air carrier operations from the current Killeen Municipal Airport, to the new
"Killeen - Fort Hood Regional Airport"..
The opening of the new airport will take place on the 2nd August. 2004.
The existing Killeen Airport will remain after the air carriers move to the new facility, and will serve light private and business aircraft.

No public trans. Taxis are expensive. Car is the best way to get around. Rent one, or buy a cheap one off a GI who's shipping out. Alternately find an abandoned one by the side of the road, fix it up and drive that.
