When you take a cruise off into the sunset, you have to leave from somewhere. Most of the times when you are leaving from Houston, it will actually be from Galveston. NCL for the next couple months will continue to sail out of La Porte, which is considered the Port of Houston.

The State Park is located 22 miles east of downtown Houston. You can get to it by I-610 East take Texas Hwy 225 east for 11 miles to Texas Hwy 134 (which is Battleground Rd.) and continue north about 3 miles to the park.
.
Or take I-10 East to Lynchburg Rd., go south 2 miles to ride the free Lynchburg Ferry which is what we did. Once across the Houston Ship Channel, it will be a short drive on Texas Hwy. 134 to the park.
