Lake Dallas Texas is a resort community on the shores of Lewisville Lake ten miles south of Denton in south-eastern Denton County. The site was occupied in 1852 and the community that developed in the vicinity was originally called French Settlement, after the family named French who settled there. After 1926 with the confiscation of Lake Dallas, the residents of the town renamed their community Lake Dallas. .

North east of Lewisville is Frisco. Stonebriar Mall is reported to be the largest mall in North Texas but there are many other shopping centres set along Preston Road. Large business parks and hotel resorts are springing up and there are more than 120 restaurants in Frisco.

The Shawnee trail is worth a visit and a read. This was the earliest principal route of the Texas longhorn cattle drive which began going through this area around 1840. The cattle were driven from Austin through Waco and Dallas up north along the eastern edge of Oklahoma (as it is now) and up to Kansas City or to Sedalia, Missouri where there were railroad facilities for transporting the herd east especially to meatpackers at Chicago.

Also you should visit Dr Peppers/Seven UP Ballpark and maybe get to see a game. The park opened April 3rd, in time for the 2003 season and is quite different from the normal Americal ballpark.

Plano is east of Lewisville and north of Dallas. Plano has become one of the best places for businesses to set up their companies as well as families to live and work. Old downtown Plano has plenty of lovely shops and the bigger malls are not too far away. Plano also has some great restaurants and is certainly a business hub.

McKinney is off to the east.. maybe northeast of Lewisville and on another main route north from Dallas, I-75. McKinney has over 1,700 historic homes and buildings and the town has earned a listing in the National Register of Historic Places. Apart from its history, there are also more than 100 specialty shops, antique stores and restaurants in and around the historic downtown area. There is also a 289acre Heard Natural Science Museum and Wildlife Sanctuary.
