Every March there is the 'Thunder on the Trinity' which is a weekend gathering of bikers from all over hosted by the Rotary Club to raise money for charity. There are live bands, lots of food and funny and entertaining games played on motorcycles.

Another event in March is the Liberty Jubilee. There is a parade, BBQ cookoff, street dance, and live bands and lots of vendors. Most of the town usally closes for this so everyone can attend.

In October there is the TVE (Trinity Valley Exposition)which had a 'kick off' trail ride which is usually a full weekend then a dance, BBQ cookoff, Livestock Show, Carnival and of course the Rodeo.

If you like the river, there are a couple of good places to swim, fish and canoe. There are even 4 wheeler trails at one location.
My personal favorite is the TVE trail ride. It's fun to camp out and meet other people that come in from other places to ride. There is a wagon for those who don't want to or don't have horses to ride, the port-a-potty wagon, haha, and a wagon for the coolers of beer and other drinks. The food is catered and there is a bonfire every night to sit around and sometimes singing.

There are 2 REALLY good restaurants here. One is the Sky Kay cafe. They have great home-style cooking and a buffett. My other fav is Duffs seafood. They have really fresh seafood here cooked great. I think they even catch it theirselves.
Neither place is fancy or much to look at but both have a great friendly waitstaff. At Duffs Seafood on Monday nights, 6-8, their is a live bluegrass band for entertainment. But sorry guys no alcohol is served. The town is dry.

Favorite Dish: My fav menu item from the Sky Kay is the chicken fried steal which usually huge and VERY good. At Duffs my fav would be the all you can eat shrimp and oysters. YUM!!

Watch out for loose cows or people riding horseback along the roads and if traveling at night watch out for deer crossing the roads.

If you are going to be in the woods watch for snakes and wild hogs. The hogs are most active in the early evening and morning hours. Also wolves at night.

Clothing/Shoes/Weather Gear: It can get pretty cold in the winter or be on the warm side so be ready for either. In the summer have bug repellent on hand for the Texas sized mosquitos. Sometimes rubber or water proof boots are a good idea in the woods as some of the lower places are pretty muddy.

Toiletries and Medical Supplies: If camping I would suggest a snakebite kit.

Camping/Beach/Outdoor Gear: Make sure you have rain gear. Never know when it'll rain on ya here.

Favorite thing: For people looking for the historical side of Liberty there is the first EXACT replica of the Liberty bell. In 1976, as a Bicentenniel project, there was a bell tower built to house it.

Fondest memory: What I miss the most when I am away is the quiet and the small town values of Liberty.
