Maiya's was kind of a surprise. The menu and ambience was not what you expect in a small town in West Texas. The menu includes such fare as a grilled Rib-eye Steak with Red Skinned Potatoes; North Atlantic Salmon; a Polenta Lasagna; and Chicken Agrodolce. Maiya's is open Wednesday through Saturday from 5 PM to 10 PM (excluding special events). Reservations are recommended. According to their website, Maiya's will be closed from September 3rd - 13th as well as November 27th and December 24th - 25th.

Favorite Dish: Try the Chicken Agrodolce

The Food Shark: Great Greek food on a van

by blueswave Written Jun 14, 2007

At lunch time stop by picnic tables by the book store for some awesome greek food-the van will drive up. Casual and outdoors. Packed with taste and flavor. Fresh and quality food in a van.

Favorite Dish: Hummus was excellent and they have Blue Sky sodas.

Maiya's: The best resteraunt in town

by BlaineandPat Updated Jan 30, 2006
    Maiya's

A very nice restaurant - with ambiance and food that would not be out of place in the trendy district of any large city. A sample menu is available on their website, but in general it runs toward well constructed American standards. Steak. Pasta. And a nice wine list

The Brown Recluse: A nice little breakfast joint / used bookstore

by BlaineandPat Written Jan 30, 2006
    The restaurant

For breakfast on our last day (well, our only day) in Marfa we stopped by the Brown Recluse - a small coffee shop/used book store near downtown Marfa. Although everything is near downtown Marfa. The breakfasts were excellent (although we observed one crusty local sending back their French toast as too dry) and their homemade soft drinks (lemonade, lime aide) were even better.

When the check came, two hearty breakfasts were less than $13.

The restaurant is set up in an old bungalow, and the layout of the house was left intact. So you can eat in the living room, or bedroom, or kitchen...... In one room there were a lot of old books on shelves which we assumed were for sale, but I suppose it's possible they were just there to borrow as well.
