This home is amazing and I learned so much from the tour. The original furnishings and the art make it feel like the family is still living there. I highly recommend for anyone interested in history and/or beautiful pieces of art.

The Heard-Craig House is a restored historic home built in 1900 that is located very close to the Old Town Square in McKinney. During the time after it was built, it was the home to business, art and literature for this part of Collin County. The Heard family made its living as the Mercantile dealers in the area, and invested its profits in many other businesses in and around McKinney during that time. Stephen Heard, who built the residence married Lillie and had a daughter Katie, who then married Thomas Craig, who eventually owned the house after Stephen passed away. As Katie grew, she wanted to ensure this house would always be a place where women in particular could come and meet to learn about the past. Even past her death in 1970, the house has stood as a place for education, and has a social membership club associated to it through this day.
