First State Bank, Mesquite

The original charter to the Mesquite State Bank was issued in 1962 by the State of Texas and opened in an old lumberyard building just off the square and beside the railroad tracks. The bank opened the November of the same year and then moved to the existing location in 1963. The bank has changed several times over the years as has the name from Mesquite State Bank, to First State Bank, to First State and Savings Bank back to First State Bank.

Many people from Mesquite were the original stock holders.
