Watch out for mounds in parks and other grassy areas. Disturb them and you're in big trouble. These vermin give one hell of a bite which can have me itching for 2 weeks. Fire Ants were accidentally introduced to the USA from South America in the late 1930's. (no you don't need the Fire Dept but I had the photo so I used it :-)

There is nothing really to be concerned with. According to a study conducted a few years ago, Mesquite is the safest city in Texas and one of the Top 10 safest cities in the Nation.
