    3 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

This is one of the truly unique nightspots in Texas. There is nowhere else to compare with this place. Opened in 1878, this venerable club has hosted many of the great Texan musicians, to include Joe Ely, Delbert McClinton, George Strait, Lyle Lovett, the Fabulous Thunderbirds, and countless others.

Dress Code: Casual. Western wear is appropriate.

  • Tony's Taxi: Take a Taxi to all the Venues

    by onaberry0122 Written Sep 9, 2009

New Braunfels has long been known for a great Venue spot for Americanna and country music. The clubs are a little spread out and New Braunfels police are known for DWI's. Call Tony's Taxi for a ride. They will tell you which bands are playing , and can direct your group to where they will have the most fun. On the plaza you have The Kork wine bar, The Piano Bar, The Oyster Bar, Scores Sports Bar, The Black Whale, and Callhans. All of these are within walking distance of each other and our favorites of the locals. You might also call Tony's Taxi to run you over to Gruene home of Gruene Hall. The oldest dance hall in Texas and known to give so many country stars thier start. Billy's Ice House on the loop is always packed and free to get in, with live music nightly. Just remember Don't Drink and Drive call Tony's Taxi for a ride.

  • Bubba's Big Deck: Casual food/beer with deck on river in Gruene

by depnomore Updated Mar 3, 2006

Bubba's Big Deck is a casual river hang-out. The beer is cold, you can byob, and on Thursdays (Biker Night), the free dinner is awesome (locals usually bring a side dish). The deck is just off the shore so there's plenty of people watching. During summer there is on-site b-b-q and smoked food.

    Uptown Piano bar: Piano Bar

by klasher Written Dec 20, 2006

I am not much of a piano bar fan, but this place has such a cool vibe-interesting artwork, antique furnishings, intimate seating and dark corners. There is a nice courtyard outside if the smoke gets to you.
