This whole area is a great place to visit. San Antonio is 20 mins. away with the Alamo and the River Walk Downtown. New Braunfels is just mins. away with the Schlitterbaum Water Park. At the end of our river run there is a small town called Gruene that is quaint. There are shops and restaurants, and at nite they usually have several honkytonk bands.

Comal County Courthouse was built in 1898 in a Romanesque Revival style. Most courthouses were built in the centre of the town square, however, New Braunfels town officials followed their German roots and built the courthouse on the northeast corner of the square. This location allowed the plaza to be used for traditional German celebrations. The courthouse interior follows the traditional cross-shaped plan.
I've heard Wurstfest is a lot of fun, but I've never been.
New Braunfels was founded by Germans and they still hold on to those roots. One way they do this is to have a festival every fall called Wurstfest. They have lots of German food, beer, and music!
New Braunfels is a great, small town to walk around in. But, you must go to the town of Gruene (pronounced 'GREEN') Wonderful little town for walking tours including Gruene Hall.. the oldest dancehall in Texas. Remember in the movie 'Michael' when Travolta danced in the bar with the two Texas chicks, that was in Gruene Hall.
this is a very relaxed place... great for antique shopping. Wonderful family area.
There were some nice veterans' memorials on display in New Braunfels. I think it is important to remember the contributions the nation's veterans have made to our freedom and way of life.

There is a nice park in the center of town near the old courthouse. It has several historic markers, a fountain, some landscaping and a gazebo where they sometimes have concerts and other activities.
