by newbraunfelstourist Updated Jul 8, 2011

    Tony's Taxi is HORRIBLE!!!

    AVOID AT ALL COSTS.

They are HORRIBLE. Despite calling 2 hours in advance of pickup, and every 30 minutes thereafter, they LEFT US STRANDED in the MIDDLE OF NOWHERE in the MIDDLE OF THE NIGHT!!!

They also draw disrespectful cartoons of the prophet Mohammed.

Beware of the speed limits signs on FM 725 and Highway 46 heading into New Braunfels. Speeds quickly transition from 65/55 down to 35 miles per hour and these areas are monitored for speeding violations.

Cars, trucks, RV's, Minivans, hey, whatever works. There is no public transportation that I am aware of other than Greyhound, and frankly, I'd rather walk.
Leave the car behind. No I have not developed a split personality. Once you get to your campsite, park the car and pay the minimal fee to have somebody else haul you up and down the river. I have never seen anything sillier that people who will waist presious hours of their vacation days stressing over where and how to leave their cars so that they can have a ride ready when the crawl out of the river. Besides, you will be muddy, you will not want your car touching you until after you have had the opportunity to clean up a bit.

Interstate 35 from north and south. From east interstate 10 to highway 46 takes you right to New Braunfels. Don't know about from the west.
This whole area is not very crowded. You can pretty much drive your own vehicle anywhere without much trouble. At Schlitterbahn, take the trams to the other side of the park (there's actually 3 parks in all). Park somewhere in Greune and take the walking tour. The people at Adobe Verde restaurant were pretty nice about letting us park our truck there and walk around the town.

When in New Braunfels use Tony's Taxi

When in New Braunfels, Texas relax and let TONY'S TAXI take you around. It cheap and the drivers are very informative. So sit back and have fun and let them worry about the driving.
