When on the river
DO NOT bring styrofoam, glass or cans. All beverages must be in non disposable containers. Cops are looking for tubers with this items and you WILL get a $500 fine. Please keep our rivers clean!
I bring sangria in a thermos...
Jumping off Bridges
Every summer there is some drunken idiot that jumps of a bridge into a river that is 5 feet deep and dies, so don't do it. Many people also jump of trees into deep parts off the river but the river floor is constantly changing and floods causes rocks to be shifted so it is dangerous also.

how 'bout them leaches
In the Guadalupe River there are some smallish harmless leaches living in their natural habitat. Every once in a while, but very, very rarely you may find one stuck to your back or arm or leg or whatever... they rinse right off in the current, and pose no health threat that I am aware of.
So don't freak out.
Just beware of the Central...
Just beware of the Central Texas sun. Bring sunscreen of at least 30spf. Also if you go to Schlitterbahn, buy some aquashoes because the pavement gets pretty hot by the afternoon. On the tubing, consider getting a tube with a bottom if your not used to being on the river, there's some pretty big rocks in the rapids. Might want to look out for water moccasins on the river. They say if you leave em alone they won't bother you, but that doesn't help me much. We tubed for four hours and saw ONE snake (he had little interest in us)
Beware Drinking on the River
Consumption of alcohol by minors, public intoxication and drugs are against the law. The proposed ban on alcohol consumption on the Comal & Guadalupe Rivers was not approved.
