In December a night is dedicated to music and carolers, magicians and carriage rides amongst other activities which are part of the Dickens Christmas event.
The events are held in Haggard Park as well as well as the annual tree lighting ceremony followed by the arrival of Santa.

Plano is now widely known as being the "Balloon Capital of Texas" Hot air balloon races are held the last weekend in September. There is a large arts and crafts fair which is also held at the same time as the balloon festival.
