Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW)
Plano is a large city that has grown up as a suburb of Dallas. Located to the North of Dallas, there are a couple of ways to get to Plano. If you are flying into the Dallas metropolitan area, you will likely fly into Dallas Fort Worth International Airport (DFW). If you do, Plano is located 27 miles from the airport to the east.
Dallas Fort Worth is a major international airport, so if you are flying out of anywhere internationally, this is likely where you will end up.
By Car: Plano can be accessed either from the north or south by three major thoroughfares-the Dallas North Tollway, State Highway 75 (Central Expressway) and Preston Road. From the East and West, travel by State Highway 121 and State Highway 190 (George Bush Turn-pike). There is also easy access from Dallas along Interstate 635 that is located just south of Plano's borders.
Taking The Train
By Train: The DART light rail has just opened and the red line will give access to the retail and commercial areas.
The station is at the bottom of the old downtown shopping area - very convenient.
You can get to Plano by flying...
You can get to Plano by flying into either DFW or Love Field. Or you can drive through Texas if you have that kind of patience.
I don't really think there is any way to get around in Plano other than car. This is suburban America at its worst, and there are no urban necesseties, such as reliable public transportation.
Plenty of Parking in Downtown
Parking is easy with 4 hour street parking on both sides of 15th Street plus plenty of parking off either side of the main street as well.
