To fish on Lake Texoma you must obtain a fishing licence. This can be bought at any area store for $7.50. As Lake Texoma is shared by both Oklahoma and Texas, In you can fish in the respective Texas and Oklahoma waters with the appropriate license from the respective state, or you can fish the entire lake with a Lake Texoma fishing license.
On July 4th, the lake becomes a popular place for parties and of course the fireworks display. Hundreds of boats take to the water around the little islands and wait for nightfall to get an armchair view of the fireworks display. Its quite spectacular, both the amount of boats as well as the display itself. Perch yourself on a hill overlooking the lake and enjoy the spectacular for around 15 mins or so. The locals also provide patriotic entertainment from the balconys of their homes overlooking the lake.
The Ragin Cajun Festival is held in May every year and hosted by the American Legion Post 231. Lots of Mudcrabs, Cajun food, live bands and a street dance.At : American Legion Post 231 is located approximately 8 miles, north of Pottsboro Texas on HWY 120.
Frontier Days is held on the last Saturday in September, is Pottsboro's largest festival of the year. You can journey back in time with the Shawnee Trail Riders, follow part of the old Shawnee Trail which originally started at the Red River and ended in Turtle Creek in Dallas.
