This area is noted for birdwatching. Make sure to bring your binoculars-there are many spots for birdwatching.
If you like to deep sea fish, this is the area to do so.
The town of Rockport is great for bikes-no hills!

Take a boat up the Gulf Intercoastal Waterway
when the cranes are present, between October and March.
There are several boats that do the Whooping Crane tours.

If you love boiled food and fish and are not scare of getting dirty then you really need to stop by the boiling pot. You will be surprise by the fun atmosphere. They only serve one thing and one thing only boil food.
You can have shrimp, sausage, corn on the cob, crawfish, crab, oysters...All boiled in their cajun recipe for that spicy taste of Texas.
After you sit down and the waitress takes your order, she will come back and put a bib around your neck..That's the way you start to eat. Then when she comes back again with your boiled food, she will dump it in front of you on the table, and you eat it with your hands...At first you will look around you...But after a few minutes, when you realize that every one is doing the same thing, you will enjoy the food and the place.

Favorite Dish: It's called the boil..It's crawfish, shrimp, sausage, crab and corn on the cob, boiled with spices. Very good and tasty.
It is definitely worth the trip..

    Live oak tree

There is an occassional tropical storm that hits this area.
There doesn't have to be a storm though for it to be very windy here.
You can tell this by looking at the wind-swept live oak trees, in the picture.
