Here are some shots taken four years after our first visit back in 2009. In 2013 a new area had been developed; its a sort of village within the village of Round Top.

For a tiny town they have some great stores with some very nice works of art in the realm of sculptures, paintings and such. Also some quality craft-type items as well.

Even a small place such as this has a Chamber of Commerce just off the main square. Round Top is certainly a place where a visitor will feel welcome. Texas is known for its friendly small towns. One of the biggest mistakes that visitors to this state make is that they restrict themselves to the large cities. Sure, the cities have lots of attractions, However, they often fail to reveal the nicer and more laid back side of Texas.

At the center of the village is its historic courthouse. In Texas, especially the rural towns, the courthouse is the centerpiece of the town. It is almost always surrounded by a square. The rest of Round Top and its sites spread from every direction from this central location. This is also the ideal place to get a parking space. To date, there has never been a problem securing a parking space.

Several Texas towns have created open air museums featuring architecture of the region. Round Top is no exception, and many fine buildings from the region's past are featured here. The entrance is at the "apothecary" building adjacent to the town square. Inside that building are some exhibits as well as a place to get a Blue Bell ice cream cone.

Shoppers will enjoy looking around the handful of small antique shops to be found surrounding the town square. The shopkeepers are very friendly and will enjoy striking up a conversation with you.

This place is a hoot. Featured on the CBS Sunday Morning news program on Nov. 22, 2009, the specialty here is pie. We can personally testify that the apple and cherry pies are to die for, as the saying goes.
Favorite Dish: Pie, of course!
in November 2009, whole pies were $17.00 plus tax.
In February 2013, a berry pie was nearly $25 including taxes.
