This small house and gardens was the home of Jose Antonio Navarro, one of Texas' heroes and patriots who helped forge the state's freedom from Spain and Mexico. This home is staffed by knowledgeable park rangers and is open Wednesday through Sunday, 10 a.m. to 4 p.m.

The house was built in 1848 just a few years after Navarro signed the Texas Declaration of Independence (1836).
