    2.5 out of 5 starsHelpfulness

Often considered one of the best Gothic revival buildings in the United States, the Emily Morgan Hotel was built in 1926 and was original known as the Medical Arts Building. It is 13 stories high, crowned with a fine tower, adorned with numerous gargoyles, and located next to the Alamo.

Emily Morgan (or Emily West) is the girl considered the "Yellow Rose of Texas." According to legend, Sam Houston sent her into Santa Anna's camp to distract him so the Mexican Army could be defeated at San Jacinto, hence providing for Texas independence.
