    the famous american short story writer william sidney porter (o' henry) was born in greensboro n.c. he later moved to texas living in austin, houston, and san antonio. during his stay in san antonio he published the rolling stone humor magazine. two of his short stories featured san antonio, "a fog in santone" and "the enchanted kiss". later he moved to new york city where he wrote his most famous work "the gift of the magi". porter's san antonio house was originally located at 904 s. presa street but was moved to it's present location at the corner of laredo & dolorosa streets.
    the o' henry house is open to the public.

    The great American writer, O. Henry, lived briefly in San Antonio while editing his newspaper, Rolling Stone. His home is furnished in the Victorian style and now open to visitors.
