This graceful building serving as the northern terminus to the vast Parade Grounds of Fort Sam Houston used to house the Brooke Army Medical Center. The Medical Center has moved in recent years to more modern facilities further to the east and closer to I-35. The building's architecture is very similar to other Army medical centers dating to the 1930-40's: Trippler Medical Center/Honolulu, Hawaii - still in use; Fitzsimmons Medical Center/Denver, Colorado - now the medical campus for Colorado University. The major tenant of the building today is the Army South Command, though they are moving to near Miami in the near future, so it will be interesting to see what becomes of the big building then.
