    The River Walk

One level below the busy streets of downtown, the Paseo del Rio is San Antonio's premier visitor experience! The enchanted San Antonio River meanders several miles through midtown beneath giant cypress trees and palms, accented by tropical foliage and flowering shrubs. The popular River Walk is edged by hotels, art and gift shops, restaurants and sidewalk cafes, boutiques, and live music. Half-hour scenic riverboat cruises (fee). River Walk acess from various locations including Rivercenter Mall lagoon, and city streets including South Alamo, Lojoya, Presa, Navarro, St. Mary's, Market, Commerce and Crockett.

Riverwalk is an area downtown on a canal off the San Antonio River. It features a paved path down along the river that is lined with restaurants and bars.

    St. Joseph's Church

St. Joseph's is a German Catholic church built in 1868. Located on Commerce Street, three sides of this beautiful, old church are surrounded by the ugly, modern Rivercenter Mall. Ahhhh...progress.

The riverfront of San Antonio river was built up during the Depression. You can ride in gondolas, or visit restaurants along the riverwalk. This place is beautiful and not overly touristy.

You have to see it during the day and then again in the evening. It is absolutely GREAT!! Be sure to take the boatride, you'll learn a lot about the city and the Riverwalk.

The Riverwalk has many areas, we walked right along the river, and I still don't know how much of it we actually saw.
