    Riverwalk

    by dln6874 Updated May 21, 2003

The Riverwalk is a canal of water below street levels where you can walk along to shop, stroll, and eat. You can enter the Riverwalk from a lot of places and since it's different in various parts of the Riverwalk, it's worth walking along it for a while. It's really pretty down there.

    Lotsa Pictures on the Riverwalk

    by fred98115 Written Jul 25, 2015

Several decades ago the San Antonio River flooded, causing the city leaders to propose and build a solution, the Riverwalk. It is a canal into which river water is diverted so that the San Antonio level is controllable. A walking path lines the waterway with shops and restaurants fronting it. Shade trees have grown majestic. Boats carry tourists on a loop. Bring your zoom lens and stroll the path and you'll have many opportunities for pictures.

Riverwalk is an area downtown on a canal off the San Antonio River. It features a paved path down along the river that is lined with restaurants and bars.

St. Joseph's is a German Catholic church built in 1868. Located on Commerce Street, three sides of this beautiful, old church are surrounded by the ugly, modern Rivercenter Mall. Ahhhh...progress.

There are mosiacs that line the city, this was under the bridge on the Riverwalk.

Jose Antonio Navarro - he must be a famous person for the city.

The Riverwalk has many areas, we walked right along the river, and I still don't know how much of it we actually saw.

The riverfront of San Antonio river was built up during the Depression. You can ride in gondolas, or visit restaurants along the riverwalk. This place is beautiful and not overly touristy.
