Have never experienced such greatest kindness when it comes to service, helpfulness, and tips provided by San Antonio International Airport's service ppl. Within moments I had a wonderful clerk finding me the proper way for getting around, packed me with the right maps & material, helped me finding the Brook Army Hospital, then an appropriate accommodation, and even took the time for sharing with me stories on Germany where he earlier was stationed. For sure San Antonio International Airport & its great staff made my arrival in San Antonio wonderful & welcoming! As soon as the travelers are passing security, baggage claim, and are heading then for the exit, they come cross a good amount of Airport's service staff which immediately are helping out with immense, incredible friendly helpfulness. It's the same great service I have experienced with all the staff of DELTA either ground or air. Compared to Germany and its companies, Germans still need to improve when it comes to service and definitely when it comes to friendliness and helpfulness.

That's all I can say, come to this airport prepared. Especially if you are traveling on American, Continental, or UsAirways/America West. These airlines are in the original (oldest) terminal. If you are in tranist through this terminal after 7pm you will find NOTHING open, not the food court, not the starbucks, not the newstand.....the only thing that will be open besides the obvious ticket counter/gates and TSA security checkpoint will be the bar near gate 32. Bring your reading materials, bring your water......and remember, if you do opt for the bar that the FAA prohibits you from boarding a plane if you appear to be under the influence of alchol.
San Antonio International Airport is located 13 miles north of downtown along route 281.
