Like many towns in Texas in the late 1800s, Schulenberg's history was strongly influenced by the railroad. The town has a small park with a gazebo along the rail line.

Schulenburg brothers, Victor and Joe Stanzel always had a strong love of flying. That love resulted in 20 patents and a successful toy business. It also resulted in the Stanzel Model Aircraft Museum. Check out the hands-on displays too. Hours are 10:30 AM to 4:30 PM Monday, Wednesday, Friday and Saturday. Admission is $4 for adults and $2 for seniors. Children under 12 are free.
