Denison Dam was constructed by the U.S. Army Corp of Engineers to restrain 89,000 surface acres of water that makes up Lake Texoma. The dam provides hydroelectric power for North Texas and Southern Oklahoma. An interesting thing is that German POW labour was used in the construction which lasted from 1938 - 1944.

Denison is just north of Sherman, Dwight Eisenhowers Birth Place. He was born October 14, 1890 in this modest 2 storey house and was one of 7 children - all boys. The house sits close to 3 railroad lines, one of those running right alongside the house. Open 6 days a week for tours.
