From Seafood/Steak to an all you can eat Buffet, one can't go wrong with Werner's.
Plus, if you're not from a small town that likes to hunt - you'll get a kick out of all the stuffed prizes this place has.
Favorite Dish:
When I was younger I use to always get the Chicken Fried Chicken, but their lunch/dinner specials are always good too.
it's basically the "fanciest" restaurant in this town of 2000. has the local country atmosphere - animal heads mounted on the walls, and they know how to make a great chicken fried steak with homemade gravy. you can't go there without knowing someone (unless you've never lived in or within a 50 mile radius of shiner). friendly service.
Favorite Dish:
steak with baked potato and iced tea.
There are about 5 or 6 places to eat in Shiner. We only saw 2. Shiner Restaurant & Bar which is in a 'award-Winning historic Green Building' on East 7th Street, and Friday's Fried Chicken Restaurant which is almost opposite. We bypassed both and headed to Gonzales to try our luck there.
.
There are apparently 3 bars in Shiner and no two guesses on what is their most popular brew.
